<p>Refining residues from an aluminium scrap melt are treated by forming intermetallic compounds which are then separated into fractions of metallic aluminium and a mixture of metallic and intermetallic products. This takes place at a temperature above the m.pt. of the metallic fraction in a rotating vessel with a fire-proof coating. Also claimed is a treatment for an intermetallic product formed by the method described above, to create a product suitable for use in a cast iron or steel manufacturing process. Also claimed is the product obtained as described above, where the calcium aluminate has a low m.pt., and its use in a steel or cast iron manufacturing process.</p> |
