A device for controlling the tyre pressure of automobiles has a special arrangement (1) to be built-in in a wheel and which consists of a pressure sensor, a transmitter, and a circuit for operating the pressure sensor and the transmitter. A battery (2) supplies current to the circuit through a power supply line (3). The arrangement (1) and the battery (2) are located in a closed housing. An electronic switch (4) with a control electrode (5) is mounted in the power supply line (3) and cuts the current when the control electrode (5) is grounded.
