Object detection radar system especially for vehicles

The radar system includes an antenna (10) which is coupled to a transceiver band separator (11) via signal lines (18). An oscillator (13) generates HF signals which are radiated using the antenna. The HF signals are reflected at objects and received via the antenna. The received signals are supplied to a mixer (12) and are mixed with the current transmitting frequency. The difference signals are filtered and supplied to an A-D converter (14) which is coupled to a digital signal processor (15). In at least one period the oscillator emits signals which are not used to measure radar targets. Irradiated interference signals (20) are picked up by digitising and processing the signals lying at the A-D converter during the time period.
