The invention concerns a radiant heater with at least one radiant tube (1) and at least one burner (10). A desired e.g. constant radiation distribution characteristic is achieved along the entire length of the tube by the fact that the burner is designed as a linear burner with a tube profile (4) for the guiding of combustible medium and with a burner structure (2). The burner structure is connected to the inside of the tube via capillary-like conduits (12) distributed along the tube, so that the desired line of flame can be produced.
