The backrest has two adjuster units (6), each with a turnable hub section (9), fastened non-turnably to a shaft (7). The adjusting grip (8) for the units is located on a shaft journal (7a) projecting from one of the units. The grip is held by an elastic bracket (11). The elastic bracket has a first section (12) anchored to the hub section of the associated adjuster unit, and a second section (13), anchored to the grip. The shaft has an axial stop face. This engages on a side face of the unit from which the shaft projects, to prevent axial displacement of the shaft in a direction away from the grip.
