A fastening device is disclosed for the sensor of a speed of rotation measurement system arranged in the area of a motor vehicle wheel carrier by means of an at least partially resilient elastic support. The sensor has in the side walls of its housing guiding surfaces which rest on the carrier and determine its position in at least two directions, and in the back side of its housing a catching notch which at least in some sections is approximately perpendicular to the mounting direction. A resilient hoop arranged on the carrier and provided with a stopper snaps into the catching notch. In addition, the fastening device is provided in the area of the catch with at least one locking mechanism with a lock and a locking recess. The fastening device thus has besides the form-fitting and positive catch an exclusively form-fitting locking mechanism.
