A permanent weighing system for the load of a forklift truck comprises at least three load sensors (2) which provide signals (13) to an on-board computer and associated display (not shown). The gravitational force of the load is transmitted to the sensors (2) by the tines (3) and the complete assembly is mounted on a fixed underframe (1) via the set screws (8, 9) and threaded bushes (4). An element of self-centring between the sensors (2) and tines (3) is provided by the conical bushes (12) which is further facilitated by the rubber cushions (11) and spacers (10). Any resultant weighing error caused by transverse forces is corrected by factors derived and stored by the computer.
