<p>An acoustic well logging tool (11) is shown having a transmitter section (17) and a receiver section (19) spaced apart by a semi-rigid housing (21). The semi-rigid housing (21) includes a number of rigid tubular members (27, 29) which are joined by interlocking lobes (33, 35) which permits relative movement between the tubular members but which prevents the separation thereof. Gaps (49) between the interlocking lobes (33, 35) are filled with a connecting material which differs significantly in acoustic impedance from the material of the remainder of the housing, whereby acoustic energy passing from the transmitter section (17) along the body of the tool is delayed and attenuated.</p> |
