Lotion for killing lice in human or animal hair or hair care utensils

A hair lotion with an anti-lice effect contains an aqueous or aqueous alcoholic extract of hyssop leaves. Also claimed are (1) a method for controlling lice in humans or animals by wetting the affected hair region with the lotion, leaving the lotion to stand for at least 5 (preferably at least 20) minutes, optionally using means to prevent evaporation of the lotion, and then combing the wet hair with special fine comb; and (2) a method for controlling lice in hair care utensils by bringing their entire surface area at risk into contact with the lotion for at least 1 (preferably at least 5) hours.
