In a laser beam machining unit with a machining head (4) held by magnets (14) on an annular holder (1) which is centred w.r.t. the machining head by a centring device located between the holder and the machining head, the centring device has several balls (8) which are spaced apart, preferably at a constant angular spacing, in the circumferential direction of the holder (1) and the machining head (4).
