MULTIPLE-CORE OPTICAL CONNECTOR AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

A multicore optical connector which is small in size, easy to assemble and highly reliable. A pluraliy of arrangement guide grooves (22) are formed in a flat base (21). The pitches of the guide grooves (22) are approximately equal to the diameter of a bare optical fibers (4a and 4b). A first optical fiber tape (6a) and a second optical fiber tape (6b) are joined and placed on the rear end side of a flat base (21). The first bare optical fibers (4a) of the first optical fiber tape (6a) and the second bare optical fibers (4b) of the second optical fiber tape (6b) are alternately arranged into the arrangement grooves (22) and the bare optical fibers (4a and 4b) are pressed on their leading end sides by a pressing member (23) to be held and fixed. A filter insertion groove (17) is formed in a region where the arrangement grooves (22) are so formed as to cross the arrangement grooves (22). A filter (16) is inserted into the filter insertion groove (17) to insert the filter (16) into the second bare optical fibers (4b) of the second optical fiber tape (6b).
