Severing of sliver at bobbin changing on roving frame

The sliver (8) is broken automatically during bobbin changing on a roving frame by means of the following steps: Increased twist is inserted locally (8') in the sliver by increasing the relative speed between flyer (2) and drafting system (3) at the final bobbin layer. The twisted section (8') is then forwarded to the flyer end (9) by rotating the drafting system (3) and the bobbin (7). Tension is released between the bobbin (7) and the flyer end (9) by reversing the rotation of the bobbin (7). The sliver (8) is then broken between flyer end (9) and the bobbin periphery by lowering the spindle rail (5) into the doffing position.
