A pneumatic tyre comprises an improved tread portion provided with blocks (B), each block (B) provided with a sipe (S) extending across the block to have a first open end (S1o) and a second open end (S2o), the sipe (S) comprising three components forming a generally Z-shaped configuration, whereby the two parts divided by the sipe are engaged with each other to increase block rigidity.
