PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a fabric such as a tape or a sheet without causing a stepped part in joints even when mutually superposing unbonded parts having a low surface density by forming the unbonded parts at both ends of a bonded part in which fibers are bonded. SOLUTION: This fabric has a bonded part 2 in which fibers are bonded and unbonded parts 3 and 4 having a lower surface density than that of the bonded part at ends of the bonded part. The fabric is produced by placing a unidirectional card web prepared by carding polyester staple fibers on a net, jetting high-pressure water from a nozzle plate thereon, carrying out the jet stream treatment thereof, turning the web upside down and then performing stronger jet stream treatment with the high-pressure water in a state of closed nozzle holes in a prescribed distance from both ends of the similar nozzle plate and forming the bonded part 2 in the longitudinal direction and unbonded parts 3 and 4 having nearly one half the surface density thereof at both ends 6 thereof. The resultant nonwoven fabric is then separated at the unbonded parts 3 and 4 to afford a tape 1. No marked stepped part is caused in joints even when the unbonded parts 3 and 4 thereof are superposed on those 3 and 4 of the other tape 1. |
