PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of unusual noise at the time of switching operation by making the connection of a large diameter pulley and a small diameter pulley via a one-way clutch and a spring clutch respectively, and carrying out the drive of rotation with one of said pulleys in accordance with the output shaft speed of an engine. CONSTITUTION:When the engine speed is below a defined value, the lever 17 of a spring clutch 5 is brought into contact with a spring 15 and the rotation of a small diameter pulley 4 is transmitted to a rotor 11 and, further, to the rotary shaft 2 of a rotary vane type compressor 1 via an armature 8. In this case, the inner ring 6b of a one-way clutch 6 is rotated at a high speed while the rotor 11 is connected to the small diameter pulley 4, whereas, the outer ring 6a, together with a large diameter pulley 3, is rotated at a low speed. After that, when the engine speed becomes above the defined value, the lever 17 is rotated due to centrifugal force disconnecting the clutched condition of the spring clutch 5, the outer ring 6a is rotated at a higher speed than that of the inner ring 6b, and the rotation of the large diameter pulley 3 is transmitted to the rotary shaft 2 via the one-way clutch 6. Thereby, any unusual noise due to switching operation is not generated, while also preventing excessive cooling. |
