A roof beam, suitable for constructing a conservatory roof, comprises an inverted T-shaped glazing bar 10 with upper 12 and lower 14, 15 cappings. The glazing bar has a cross bar 16 having trough formations 26 at each end, whereby there is a recess under the cross bar. The cross bar can, therefore, accommodate both a lower capping 14 for a transom roof beam and a lower capping 50 for a hipped conservatory roof end. The recess may also be formed by providing depending side walls at the edges of the cross bar (figures 16-27 and 32-43). The upstanding limb of the T-shape may be a hollow duct 60, 62 which may be rectangular as in figure 3, triangular (for example figure 6) or may have more than one duct (for example figure 34). The edge wall upstanding from the cross bar (for example 802, 806, figure 16) may be arcuately turned inwards and may have a roughened top surface. The upstanding limb may include a port (for example 864, figure 20) for receiving a fixing screw or bolt. The lower capping may include a coextruded flexible strip (904, figure 48).
