PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the sticking of free abrasive grains to the surface of a wire, and consequently improve the working speed and working accuracy by a method wherein the working such as cutting or the like to the workpiece is performed by employing a wire made of organic fiber wire having a specified tensile strength or higher. SOLUTION: As a wire 15, organic fiber wire is employed. This organic fiber wire has a strength larger than 200kg/mm<2> , preferably 300kg/mm<2> or more. In a working device, the wire 15 is delivered from the delivering reel 23 of a reeling mechanism 22 and run to one direction or both directions between the working rollers 13 and 14 of a cutting mechanism 11 and then wound up to a wind-up reel 24. While free abrasive grain-containing slurry is fed from a slurry feeding mechanism onto the wire 15 between the working rollers 13 and 14, a workpiece 20 is pressingly brought into contact with the wire 15. Thus, the workpiece 20 is cut in the predetermined thicknesses. |
