PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain high corrosion resistance and durability by coating a rubber blanket cylinder body with a layer containing one type or more of ZnFe, ZnCo, ZnNi and Zn compound and zinc. SOLUTION: A body 2 of a printer cylinder 1 as a rubber blanket cylinder formed of cast iron or steel iron of a sheet-feed offset rotary press is covered with a first layer 4 containing one or more types of ZnFe, ZnCo, ZnNi, Zn compounds and zinc. The layer 4 is electrochemically covered, for example, in an alkaline dipping bath. A thickness of the layer 4 is a range of 2 to 30μm, or preferably 8 to 12μm. In the case of electrochemical coating, the layer 4 can be accurately covered. As a result, a posttreatment subsequently to a surface of the body 1 necessary to maintain required diameter tolerance can be omitted similarly to the case of chromium or nickel plating of the cylinder. |
