The control system comprises a plurality of sensors for measuring the engine condition and encoding this as current engine condition data, a data base of collected engine condition data and associated subsequent engine condition data, a processor for interpreting the current engine condition data, locating within the data base equivalent collected engine condition data and retrieving from the data base the corresponding subsequent engine condition data, and engine condition adjustment means which corrects the engine condition toward an ideal state based on the subsequent engine condition data. The engine condition adjustment means can be a simple engine management system, or a dedicated system comprising at least an inlet valve in the inlet manifold, and preferably also a water injection system. Preferably, the control system measures the lambda value of the engine together with the vacuum pressure and also the rpm of the engine. The data base can be constructed by collecting measured data of engine condition over a period of time. Preferably the system is reactive to the driving style imposed on the car by imposing a lower air/fuel ratio if the change in rpm is below a predetermined level for a predetermined time. |
