The ashtray is comprised of two containers having the following functions: the first container forms the lid of the second container and is provided at its bottom with a grid which supports an aggregate or granular material with a geometry appropriate to extinguish thereon the cigars or cigarettes and sustaining them when they are deposited there during their combustion; said grid has the dimensions appropriate to let the ashes deposited on the aggregate to pass through the grid, thereby enabling the ashes to get into the second container forming the ashtray. Said second container is located under the first container and is intended to receive, in addition to the ash, the previously extinguished cigarettes'butts; to this effect, the ashtray assembly is provided with a sufficiently large opening which provides for the introduction of said cigarettes' butts into the second container; this opening can be conveniently provided with a closure system easily actuable with a single hand so that, upon closing, the butts and ashes are isolated from the outside. |
