INK JET RECORDER AND INK STATE DETECTION MECHANISM THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable ink jet recorder in which presence of printable ink can be detected through a simple structure while preventing destruction of recording head and missing of recording data. SOLUTION: This ink jet recorder where recording is performed by delivering ink from a nozzle at the forward end part 3 of a recording head into a common liquid chamber 3 comprises a first detection electrode 8 arranged in the common liquid chamber 3, and a second detection electrode 13 arranged in the ink channel 2 from an ink tank 6 to the common liquid chamber 3. The state of ink can be detected by detecting the electric resistance or the capacitance between both electrodes 8, 13.
