PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability by reducing damage on the emitting end face of an optical fiber provided for a laser probe when evaporating a scleroid viable tissue. SOLUTION: A laser beam generation source 13 generates a pulse-shaped laser beam having the wavelength from 1.0μm to 5.5μm and emission energy from 1mJ to 2500mJ and this beam is guided through a light guide 14 to a contact type handpiece 15. A user contacts an emitting end face 17 of an optical fiber 9 of a probe 16 freely attachably and detachably fitted to the top end of the handpiece 15 with the surface of table scleroid viable tissue. Concerning the optical fiber 9, an intermediate layer having a refraction factor lower than that of a clad 26 is interposed between a core 25 and the clad and the distribution of refraction factor, in which the refraction factor of the core 25 gets larger from a central axial line toward the surroundings, is shown. The laser beam guided to the handpiece 15 is passed through the optical fiber 9 of such a probe 16 and emitted from the emitting end face 17, the diseased part is irradiated with this beam and the scleroid viable tissue of that part is evaporated.
|
