PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the installation of a rare gas power plant, and achieve the improvement of a MHD single efficiency, by forming the rare gas power plant of a MHD (high-cycle thermal storage-type combustion system) generator, a rare gas heating part and a steam power plant, and forming a rare gas heater of a high speed change-over type thermal storage combustor and a heat exchanger. SOLUTION: An MHD generator performs power generation by the use of rare gas A heated by a rare gas heater 2a. This rare gas heater 2a comprises a high speed change-over type thermal storage combustor 11 and a heat exchanger 11, fuel F supplied to a combustion burner 23 is mixed with combustion air E supercharged by an accumulator 22 and burnt, and heat is applied to the heat-transfer tube 13 of the heat exchanger 12 and an accumulator 25 by combustion exhaust gas G generated when the fuel F is mixed with and burnt, let to flow into a combustor 27 during a suspending period, and exhausted as low temperature exhaust gas through a four-way valve 29. While, when the combustor 27 is operated, the four-way valve 29 is changed over, the fuel F supplied to a combustion burner 26 is led to flow into the combustor 27, mixed with the combustion air E heated by the accumulator 25 and burnt. |
