PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a thread catching body accurately correspond to the rotary movement of a shuttle by energizing the movement device of the thread catching body based on signals generated from a signal generator corresponding to a movement program and setting the distance data of the movement program to fixed relation to the rotary movement of the shuttle. SOLUTION: In a thread cutting process, when the rotation number (n) of an upper shaft 1 reaches a limit rotation number nG, the rotation angleαof the upper shaft 1 is measured through the signal generator 7, and when a prescribed rotation angleαST as the start point of the thread cutting process is detected, the thread catching body 9 is moved corresponding to a stipulation S(α) filed in a data memory 22. That is, the movement program is converted to a servo value for a positioning controller 19 and a speed controller 20 by a target value setting device 21, sent to comparison parts 23 and 24 and compared with a distance measured value and a speed actual value. Then, speed optimization adjustment signals are generated from the speed controller 20 for inputting the output signals of the comparison part 24, an electromagnet 15 is driven and a thread cutting device 8 is operated.
