The cutter (100) cuts mushrooms in containers along a set line. The containers are fed in line parallel to the cutting line. Each container has a flat area on which a culture substrate is placed and vertical feet which extend below the container and each presenting an upper part situated at the level at which the mushrooms are cut. The cutter (100) has a blade (11) and a positioning guide (140) for the blade along the cutting line. The guide displaces the blade at each pass of a foot of the containers. The guide is movable from an upper rest position and a lower working position and is connected to the blade for common movement. A pinching disc (145) is mounted concentrically to the blade and has a larger diameter.
