The hinge (101) has a hinge (103) which is fixed to the frame, in the centre of the hinge there is a cylindrical bore (120) open at one end. It has a strap hinge (102) which is fixed to the door or window which also has a cylindrical bore open at one end. There is a shoulder (112) inside the housing (108) and a male cylindrical pin (104) which joins the strap hinge and the hinge. The cylindrical bore (120) of the hinge has a spring (130) which when compressed exerts a force on the male pin which balances the weight of the mobile panel. The male pin has a shoulder which fits against the shoulder on the inside of the housing of the strap hinge. The shoulder separates a central cylindrical section (115) of the pin, which partially fits into the bore of the hinge, from a centring rod (114) with a smaller diameter which fits completely into the housing of the strap hinge when the two shoulders are in contact.
