The water trap container comprises a first compartment 26 connected to the brine container and a second, overflow, compartment connected to the rinse container 11. The first compartment is of variable effective volume, e.g. by means of an adjustable weir 29 as shown, by movement of end wall 31, by insertion of a displacement body, or by making the water trap container pivotable. These means allow adjustment of the amount of regenerant solution to suit the prevailing water hardness. |
