An elastic body made of a metal, in which a comparatively large stress occurs when deformed in the austenite phase the temperature region of which is higher than the transformation point of metal structure, and only a comparatively small stress in the martensite phase in the low temperature region as in a shape memory metal is used as an operating body, an even number of operating units OU, each of which is formed by inserting such an operating body in an expansible operating body support frame, are arranged and combined as an operating group, hot water tanks and cold water tanks are alternately arranged in a row horizontally to form water tank group. Thus an output unit PU is configured. The operating units OU are lifted, moved horizontally, lowered and dipped in a cold water tank and a hot water tank alternately by a transfer mechanism. For each output unit PU, the operating units OU in the hot water tank recover the original shape and output power, and the operating units OU in the cold water tank are deformed. This enables a separate excitation transfer type solid phase heat engine of a high thermal efficiency to be provided.
