Fuel oil chamber filter for oil=fired heating systems

An injection-moulded immersible polyethylene body (2) reaches down from the filter cover (14) into the entry chamber (22) to screen the filter element (18) casing space (36) against gas entry from the adjoining radial area (39,40) of the chamber. The body comes in sleeve shape and takes up the clear section of the chamber at the casing sector so as coaxially to cover this. Entry to the chamber is through a passage in the cover and the casing surface of the body (20) and filter cup may form a further passage for the incoming fuel oil. The body may gastightly cover the filter casing sector apart from the open-rimmed annular gap (37) at the end furthest from the filter. The body can thus be inserted via its radiating shoulder (34) to fit the filter concerned. The filter element itself may consist of a metal gauze or cloth or again a sintered polyethylene weave, and the filter can be turned in on itself at the immersed endface to enlarge the useful filter surface.
