The chair (1) comprises a seat (2) on which the backrest (4) and front and rear legs (7,5) hinge. An armrest (9) hinges (10) on the backrest, and is coupled in an adjustable position clear of the hinge to a protrusion on the rear leg (5). A pull-rod (13) can be coupled between the front and rear legs and clear of the hinges (6,8) between them and the seat. The hinge between the front leg and seat can be closer to the rear leg than the bottom end of the front leg bearing against the floor.
