The effective feed volume (39) exceeds the possible volume of the high pressure cylinder (5) so the pressure transmitter comes into immediate operation once the volume is forcibly applied. The cyclical operation vents the oil volume and compensates for leakage. The feed volume can be shut off by a piston and rod (6,18) in the partition (15), also fitted with one or more nonreturn valves (23). Compressed air may be fed in by the piston (6) and the oil meniscus may be equipped with a floating divider disc (38) or float. The hydraulic fluid medium can be fed externally to the feed volume and shut off and the residual volume may be available to volume via a bore under control of a nonreturn valve. The piston rod of the pneumatic cylinder should be eccentric and the divider disc can be replaced by a piston to the same effect.
