<p>A single-use disposable bladed device, such as a safety razor, has a head 3 in which is mounted a blade 2. Also mounted on the head is a hydrophilic insert which upon hydration causes the blade to be shielded. The hydrophilic material may provide the shield itself (figs 1 and 4) or it may cause the blade to move to a shielded position (fig 3). The material may cause a blade shield 4 to move to a blade shielding position (figs 2,6 and 7). The material may enable a further mechanism to operate (fig 5) to shield the blade.</p> |
