A description is given of a device for sealing off spaces subjected to different fluid pressures between radially spaced cylindrical casings capable of moving relative to one another, particularly in the compressor zone of aircraft engines, having at least one sealing ring divided at the circumference, which is held in a circumferential groove in one of the casings and rests in leak tight fashion under prestress against the other casing. The sealing ring is to have a main body which is manufactured from a thermosetting resin reinforced in the circumferential direction by carbon fibres and is provided with a stiffening and wear-proof covering.
