The syringe comprises a barrel (1) and plunger 7, the barrel having means interrupting the cylindrical surface of its inner wall in the form of grooves (10,11) or projections (29) and the plunger having a locking means comprising a pair of flukes 17 which operates on engagement with the groove(s) or projection on withdrawal of the plunger to prevent further withdrawal movement. The locking means, which is provided on the head of the plunger adjacent an elastomeric sealing cap 15, may alternatively comprise a cross-shaped disc (20). Also provided is a two-part moulding tool for making the plunger, each part bearing an impression of a portion thereof and having a removable insert bearing the impression for the locking means for the respective portion, as well as such an insert itself. |
