The vehicle seat back is extended at the top by a head support whose front surface supports the nape of the user's neck. The head support is supported by a rigid pin (8) which slides vertically in a socket (9) fixed to the back and able to pivot to the front. The head support is moved angularly rearward by a spring (16) to a rest position where a locking stop (15) prevents the pin from sliding vertically. The head support is adjusted angularly to the front by the user against the spring action where the pin can slide vertically in the socket. The locking stop is fixed to the socket and located behind the pin. When the head support is in its rest position the stop engages in rearward facing notches (18) in the pin.
