The plant is used for feeding boards of timber (4) to and through a single board feeder (2). It has elongated boards of timber which lie sequentially on a conveyor (1) transversely to the longitudinal axis of the conveyor wherein the conveyor advances the boards to the single-board feeder at a speed Vin. The feeder operates at a board-feeding speed which is lower than Vin. A regulator (5,6) is mounted upstream of the board feeder and the buffer region (3) in the proximity as seen in the conveying direction wherein. The regulator retards the boards advanced on the conveyor to a speed Vreg which is slower than Vin prior to the boards being conveyed further to the board feeder on the conveyor.
