SEED EMULSION FOR FORMING TABULAR SILVER HALIDE, PRODUCTION OF TABULAR SILVER HALIDE PHOTOGRAPHIC EMULSION, AND SILVER HALIDE PHOTOGRAPHIC SENSITIVE MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seed emulsion for forming tabular silver halide having high sensitivity and rapid processing property, a process for producing a tabular silver halide photographic emulsion and a silver halide photographic sensitive material. SOLUTION: Particles of cubic normal crystals composed of (100) faces are used as the seed crystals forming the tabular silver halide particles consisting essentially of silver chloride. This process for producing the tabular silver halide photographic emulsion of >=50% in the average silver chloride content of the silver halide particles produces the tabular silver halide photographic emulsion formed of the seed emulsion for forming the tabular silver halide which is the cubic normal crystals formed by growing the cubic normal crystal silver halide particles as the seed crystals to the tabular particles and constituting the seed particles of the (000) faces and contains these seed particles in such a manner that the tabular silver halide particles having an aspect ratio of >=3.0, a particle thickness of <=0.3μm and having the (100) faces as main planes occupy >=50% of the projection area of the entire silver halide particle.
