PHARMACEUTICAL PREPARATION OF MEFENAMIC ACID AQUEOUS SOLUTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a pharmaceutical preparation of mefenamic acid aqueous solution expected as a eye drop or injection and having a concentration effective for antiinflammatory action, etc., by combining polyvinyl pyrrolidone with a basic substance and a specific surfactant. SOLUTION: This pharmaceutical preparation comprises mefenamic acid of the formula, a basic substance, polyvinyl pyrrolidone and a nonionic surfactant having 14-15 HLB. Polyoxyethylene-hardened castor oil 60 or polysolvate 80 is preferably used as the nonionic surfactant. Borax or trisodium phosphate is preferably used as the basic substance. The aqueous pharmaceutical preparation is preferably adjusted to pH6.0 to 8.0. An amino acid (preferablyε- aminocaproic acid) and chlorobutanol may further be added to the system.
