PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear motor that can detect such magnetic information as encoder information and specific position information and has improved assembly property and maintenance property than before and at the same time an image reading device that utilizes the linear motor for driving the slider that moves to-and-fro while mounting optical parts for scanning a manuscript image optically and has better assembly property and maintenance property than before, is compact, and is less expensive. SOLUTION: A magnetic head 3 is arranged while it opposes a stator 1 on a moving member 2 with an armature coil 2b that is fitted on a stator 1 with a field magnet 11, an encoder chart 12 is formed by the magnetic head 3, and the encoder information of the chart 12 can be detected by the magnetic head 3. Also, in an image reading device, this sort of linear motor is utilized for driving the slider that moves by mounting optical parts. |
