PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a dense silicon nitride-silicon carbide composite sintered compact having superior high-temp. strength and creep characteristics. SOLUTION: Silicon nitride, silicon carbide, aluminum nitride and one or more kinds of oxides of rare earth elements selected from among Tm2 O3 are sintered to obtain the objective silicon nitride-silicon carbide composite sintered compact. In the crystal phases of this sintered compact, α-sialon phase accounts for <=10wt.% of the total amt. of β-Si3 N4 , β-SiC and α-sialon phases. |
