PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compact and inexpensive camera whose power consumption is low and which is constituted so that both of a range-finding action for an automatic focusing and infrared communication are realized by enabling the bidirectional communication between a range-finding device and an external infrared communication device having an infrared light emitting means and an infrared light receiving means to be executed by the infrared light emitting means and the infrared light receiving means. SOLUTION: When the communication is executed with a computer 2, a light projection lens and a light receiving lens are retreated from the front surface of an IREO 27 and a light receiving element 28a and a lens barrier 31 is closed by switching a range-finding and communication change-over switch 24. Then, the communication is executed by emitting and receiving infrared rays so that the infrared rays are emitted toward a light receiving element 49 arranged in the IrDA unit 3 of the computer 2 from the IREO 27 of the camera 1 in the case of transmission and emitted toward the camera 1 from the IREO 51 of the computer 2 in the case of reception. Besides, data such as the program of program AE is transmitted from the computer 2 side. In such a way, the infrared range-finding device and the infrared communication device are realized by using one light emitting element and a pair of light receiving elements in common. |
