PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for lining up the double refraction axes of optical fibers for remarkably decreasing line-up errors. SOLUTION: The terminal part of an optical fiber 15 is inserted through an opening 20 of a container 17, and the terminal part of the optical fiber 15 is separated from a component 16. An optical probe having a polarizer 132 is inserted from the upper opening part of the container 17 to its free end, the polarizer 132 is arranged between the optical fiber 15 and the component 16 and the light from the optical fiber 15 is reflected on the polarizer 132, further guided by the optical probe and supplied to a detector. While monitoring the output of the detector, the optical fiber 15 is lined up by manual operation. |
