PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict the generation of unevenness of color and luminance of a displayed image due to the unevenness of luminance of a discharge tube by forming a light diffusing means for diffusing the light from a light emitting means in a part of a reflecting surface. SOLUTION: In a liquid projector formed of a metal halide discharge tube 11 and a reflector 12, the reflector 12 emits the light, which is formed by the metal halide discharge tube 11, to optical beams 12A in nearly parallel with each other. A reflecting surface forming the reflector 12 is formed with projecting surface areas a1 -a5 as a light diffusing means per each quadrant of a first - a fourth quadrants symmetrically in upper and lower and in right and left. As a result, the light emitted from the tube 11 corresponds to an envelope formed by the reflector 12 and is focused to the shape of nearly parallel beams as a whole, but reflecting angle is different between the light, which is reflected at the center Q, and the light, which is reflected at a peripheral part, in each projecting surfaces a1 -a5 , and the beam 12A is diffused at some degree. The beam 12A can be thereby deformed at a desirable aspect ratio, and while the unevenness of luminance of the beam 12A due to the unevenness of luminance of a light emitting means can be eliminated. |
