PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electrophotographic photoreceptor excellent in electrification ability and sensitivity and excellent also in stability to repetitive use by specifying the difference between the electrochemical oxidation potential of an electric charge generating material and that of an electric charge transferring material. SOLUTION: When a photosensitive layer contg. an electric charge transferring material and metal-free phthalocyanine as an electric charge generating material dispersed in a polycarbonate resin binder is laminated on an electrically conductive substrate to obtain an electrophotographic photoreceptor, the difference (α-β) between the electrochemical oxidation potentialα(V) of the electric charge generating material and thatβ(V) of the electric charge transferring material is regulated to -0.05 to +0.15. Bisphenol A-biphenyl copolymerized polycarbonate represented by formula I, bisphenol Z polycarbonate represented by formula II or bisphenol A polycarbonate represented by formula III is effectively used as the polycarbonate resin binder.
