PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare an aluminum alloy sheet for printing plate, capable of uniformly forming surface roughing pits, and to provide its production method. SOLUTION: The aluminum alloy sheet for printing plate has a composition consisting of, by weight, 0.20-0.6% Fe, 0.03-0.15% Si, 0.005-0.05% Ti, 0.005-0.20% Ni, and the balance Al with inevitable impurities. Further, when the binding energy distribution in the range between the surface and a position at a depth of 0.5μm from the surface is measured by the X-ray photoelectron spectrometry, the half-width of the peak between 530 and 536eV is 2-5eV.
