PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the providing of the information on the commodities whose available periods already expired by comparing the present date with the available periods shown on an information table stored in an information medium and outputting the information on only the available commodities. SOLUTION: A CD-ROM 7 stores the commodity data and also a time table where the time data on the available periods of commodities, etc., are added. The time table is read out of the CD-ROM 7 and stored in a memory 5 when an information providing device starts its operation. When a commodity catalog stored in the CD-ROM 7 is shown on a display 3, a CPU 1 compares the time table with the present time that is managed by a clock 8 to perform the switching between the display and non-display of the catalog. Thus, the data on the commodities and their catalogs whose available periods already expired which are stored in the CD-ROM 7 are never displayed. As a result, the data on the unavailable commodities are never used by users and therefore it's not required to frequently produce the CD-ROM 7 whose contents are updated. |
