<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a scanning within horizontal plane without mechanical drive by jointly using an antenna capable of electronically controlling beam direction and a reflector for reflecting the radio signal related to the antenna. SOLUTION: A flat faced array antenna 16 is fixed onto a loading surface so that the antenna element arranged surface is parallel to the loading surface, for example, a ship deck. An inverted truncated conical reflecting surface 22 surrounding the side of the antenna 16 and an inverted conical reflecting surface 24 as blocks the upper part of the antenna are formed. The beam direction of the antenna 16 is controlled, whereby the plane parallel to the loading surface can be scanned. The beam elevationθ0 necessary to scan the plane parallel to the loading surface can be determined from the elevations of the reflecting surface 22 and the reflecting surface 24. Such a beam elevationθ0 is calculated, and the antenna 16 is controlled so that the beam elevation can be realized. The direction of the beam is gradually changed while constantly controlling the elevationθ0 of the beam to scan the plane parallel to the loading surface.</p> |
