PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely stop the generation of pulse voltage when a lamp is not lighted by interposing a conductive member for interrupting heat transfer in series to the heating resistance of a nonlinear ferroelectric ceramic capacitor on the opposite side thereto. SOLUTION: This metal vapor discharge lamp has a conductive member 19 such as tungsten coil interposed in series to the heating resistance 18 of a nonlinear ferroelectric ceramic capacitor (FEC) 14 on the opposite side to the FEC 14. The heat generated in the resistance 18 is efficiently transferred to the FEC to heat it to the Curie temperature or more, whereby generation of pulse voltage for starting can be surely stopped. Consequently, the absorption of the generated pulse voltage is minimized by the use of the resistance 18 having a proper resistance value, whereby the lamp is easily started. Namely, even in a lamp having a power source of 100V class, generation of pulse voltage in non-lighting of the lamp can be surely stopped without reducing the resistance value of the resistance 18. |
