This new evaporator thickens industrial solutions. It comprises heat exchanger modules fed by hot water or steam, with parallel flow channels for the fluid being concentrated. The modules are housed in a pressure-tight casing, which also includes an internal cleaning unit. The novel feature is provision of this unit (R) at least for the heat exchange module (M) most susceptible to solids coating or encrustation. The unit operates under high pressure, using the heating medium, steam or hot water. Alternatively the fluid for evaporation is used for cleaning. Preferably heat exchanger modules are stacked in the casing, with separations for the cleaning units (R). Nozzles on nozzle manifolds jet the cleaning medium, travelling at right angles to the length of the flow channels. The unit has pairs of nozzle manifold tubes, covering the length of the heat transfer modules, and carried on a casing tube running on a stand pipe. The stand pipe is connected to the cleaning medium. The casing tube is sealed with respect to the stand pipe. A drive rod projects into the stand pipe, driven mechanically or by a pressurised medium. This rod is hollow and has a fixed nut carrying an internal spindle, which is turned without ascending, by a motor. The spindle passes through a seal in the stand pipe, and its end connects to the drive motor. The spindle may be led through a heat exchanger casing seal, to be connected outside, with a drive motor. |
