An ultraviolet electromagnetic radiation transmitter tube (1), a device and a method using said tube are disclosed. The tube is made of straight transparent quartz and has an end-to-end bore (2) extending along an axis (4) for retaining a pressurised ionising gas and defining the cross-section of the radiation transmitter beam. The bore includes a so-called lower wall portion (3) that is symmetrical in relation to an axial plane (5) of the bore and forms a dioptric surface. The dioptric surface coacts with the dioptric surface on the outer tube surface to provide parallel guidance or focusing of all or part of the radiation transmitted from the bore axis (4) at the tube outlet. |
